Ever since a child I’ve always travelled far and wide across the British Isles staying in a different region each time, exploring a brand new location whilst staying in beautiful houses/flats/hotels and exploring a new part of the wonderful country I live in. So often you forget what’s right on your doorstep and there’s a lot less faffing about baggage allowance and queuing at airports plus there’s no language barrier – although sometimes there is an accent barrier!
For the last week I’ve been holidaying with my family staying in a gorgeous, huge house in North Berwick on the East Coast of Scotland…

The first evening we arrived we were straight down to the seaside to walk along the beach grabbing the last few rays of sunshine after a long day of travelling.
North Berwick by day. Barney’s straight in the sea! Reckon it was a bit too nippy for us humans though! With a view of Bass Rock in the background which we got up close and personal to later in the week.
Enjoying the morning sun from the terrace overlooking our back garden – with a pool!
More exploring of all the lovely beaches around, walking through woodland with the seaside peeking through!

By the way I am the QUEEN of packing! (Not modest at all haha) I always plan outifts as a ‘capsule wardrobe’ so make sure tops and bottoms can easily be mixed and matched so things can be worn twice but looks like a new outfit – makes packing so much lighter and less stressful! A flannel shirt is perfect as it can be worn loose like a cardigan, tied around the waist or properly as a shirt so versatile and perfect for British weather when you never know what season it’s going to be! Although as you can guess from these pictures the weather was stunning, we were so lucky as it was gloriously sunny every single day! (But sometimes a bit chilly from that sea breeze!)
Walking along a reservoir with the most stunning views at the foot of the Pentland hills. The yellow bushes all around were Gorse and smells like coconuts this time of year it was amazing felt so tropical!
Barney the dog in his full power stance!
We got a ferry out to Bass Rock, home to hundreds and thousands of the seabirds, Gannets who nest all over the rock which actually gives the rock it’s white appearance from a distance! It was incredible being so close to so many birds at once! Glad I was under the roof of the boat though haha!
Then as we were only around 45 minutes away from Edinburgh we had to spend the day there! I visited it for the first time last Summer and loved it! Such a beautiful city full of life, culture and history.
I was highly recommended to grab an ice-cream from Mary’s Milk Bar on Grassmarket Square looking up at Edinburgh Castle, last time I visited and was swept away with the deliciousness so had to go back! And practically pushed my Mum, Aunties, Uncles, cousins and Grandad I was with in there too! They do sooo many flavours, this time I went for pistachio and salted caramel – so dreamy mmmm
